1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar tracking technologies on fiden.app, and the choices available to you. It should be read together with our Privacy Notice, which explains more generally how we collect and use personal data, including your data protection rights and how to contact us or the Portuguese supervisory authority (CNPD).

Fiden runs entirely in your browser, so this policy covers the whole Service: the free quiz, the signed-in app, and every other page on fiden.app. Where this policy refers to "cookies", it also means the similar technologies described in Section 2, unless the context says otherwise.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. They let a website recognize your device, remember information about your visit, and function properly, or collect information about how the website is used.

Similar technologies include tracking pixels (small transparent images or snippets of code that report when a page has been viewed or an action taken), tag management systems (tools that load and manage other scripts on a page), and local storage in your browser, which works like a cookie but is stored by the page itself. We use all of these on the Website.

3. The cookies and similar technologies we use

We group the cookies and similar technologies used on the Website into the following categories.

Analytics. These help us understand how the quiz and the app are used, such as which screens people reach, where they stop, and which features they use, so that we can improve the product. We use Amplitude, which is hosted in the EU, and we may also use Google Analytics for the Website. These are only set if you accept them.

Advertising measurement. If you reach fiden.app from one of our ads, the Meta Pixel reports to Meta Platforms that a page was viewed or an action taken, such as starting the quiz or subscribing. We use this to measure whether our advertising works and to understand how visitors reach the Website. Meta may also use data collected through the Pixel for its own purposes, as described in Meta's own cookie and privacy policies. These are only set if you accept them.

Tag management. Google Tag Manager is a tag management system we use to deploy the analytics and measurement tags described above. The specific tags it deploys may change over time as we update how we measure use of the Website.

Some cookies are session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser. Others are persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. The specific duration of cookies set by Google, Meta and Amplitude is determined by those providers and may change. Please refer to their own cookie policies for current details.

4. Third-party cookies and international transfers

Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel are operated by Google and Meta Platforms respectively, not by us. When these technologies are active, Google and Meta may process your data outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States, under their own arrangements as controllers or processors of that data. We encourage you to review Google's and Meta's own cookie and privacy policies for more information about how they process data collected through these technologies.

Amplitude is hosted in the EU, and data collected through it does not leave the EU/EEA.

Our Privacy Notice describes the safeguards we require of our processors and partners generally when personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA.

5. Your consent and your choices

Where consent is required (see Section 3), we ask for it through a cookie banner or similar mechanism when you first visit the Website. Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically, because the Website cannot function properly without them. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them, and it is as easy to reject them as it is to accept them.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing the cookies stored in your browser and revisiting the Website, so that our cookie banner is shown again, by adjusting your browser settings as described in Section 6, or by contacting us at [email protected].

6. Managing cookies through your browser

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings, including options to view, delete or block cookies from some or all websites, and to be notified when a cookie is set. 7. If you disable cookies

If you disable or block cookies, some parts of the Website may not work correctly. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off through the Website itself, because it depends on them, but you can still block them through your browser at the risk that parts of the Website stop working properly. Disabling analytics or advertising cookies does not affect your ability to use the quiz or the app.
